#29 The Clarity Sessions - 3 Ways To Overcome Limiting Beliefs

Do you have limiting beliefs that are holding you back?

I want to share with you three ways to overcome your limiting beliefs to help you move forward in your life. See, I believe that each one of us has at least one gap in our life from the five key areas: faith, friendships, finance, fitness and family. In each area there is a difference between who you want to be and who you are right now. So what do we do to become the person we want to be?

On our way to bridging this gap, we'll notice beliefs we are holding onto that we've embraced but are preventing us from becoming the best version of ourselves. They are beliefs that we've decided are true. A limiting belief is something that we believe that limits us from becoming who we want to be.

So how do we overcome these limiting beliefs? Here are three ways:

1. Begin with the end in mind.

Being clear about your vision of a preferred future is so important to overcoming limitations. Who is it you want to be in the future? What do...

#27 The Clarity Sessions Podcast - Tackle Your Limiting Beliefs

Have you ever heard of the term "limiting belief?"

I wasn't aware of the impact of limiting beliefs until just a few years ago, but it's completely changed the way I view success and think about big goals.

What is a limiting belief?

A limiting belief is something that we think is true that we're only holding onto as true because we believe it. We have adopted it and embraced it as part of our value system. But what that belief is doing is it's preventing us from reaching the next level. It's keeping us from getting out of our comfort zones and propelling our business forward to increase our impact and our income.

And if you think about it this way, a limiting belief is something that we might not even really have investigated. It's just something that we adopted along the way. Maybe it's something from childhood that we heard a teacher say once, something that maybe we've heard at church or from an organization and we've just assumed is true. What happens is you hit a point in your...

3 Questions To Ask Your Husband (About Porn)

Pornography is a temptation that most Christian men (like me) deal with on a regular basis. From seeing my first pornographic magazine in 4th grade to mobile access to anything I could ever imagine as a 40-year-old, today’s Christian man is being bombarded by a culture hell-bent on taking him out of commission.

And I know that I am not alone. 64% of Christian men look at pornography at least once a month. This is a problem because we are called to live a life of purity. Jesus said in Matthew 5:28, “But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

So what are we to do?

For men who want to live a life of purity, loving his wife and leading his family well, AND for the incredible woman in his life who wants to stand with him to counter-attack this continuous onslaught, here is some encouragement:

There is a secret that actually works to living a porn-free life.

The truth is, I’ve tried...

Guys, It's Time To Start Apologizing

As a white Christian man, the last few years have been a bit of a wake-up call. There’s been a reckoning for guys who look like me. Previously well-respected leaders have been publicly exposed for the liars, bullies, and misogynists they’ve been behind closed doors. So many wrongs are coming to light, and that is good. But this time has also been a period of reflection for men like me. Men who want to love and lead their families well. Men who work with and serve some pretty incredible women, and men who don’t want to be part of the problem.

So I think I figured something out recently. To move forward, sometimes you have to start by looking back. And for many guys, including me, it means saying "I’m sorry."

Guys, it’s time to start apologizing.

It’s time to apologize to the women in our lives. To fellow sisters, to our wives, and to our daughters. “I’m sorry for being THAT guy.”

I’m sorry for cutting you off before...

#26 The Clarity Sessions Podcast - How To Be A Productive Leader

If you're a leader and you've struggled to manage all of the demands on your plate, you're not alone. You have the work that you need to do, the work that you need to oversee, and then you have multiple stakeholders as well. Though the demands are high on leaders, there are ways to approach leadership in a productive way.

The challenge is...how do you reach your goals when you can hardly manage all that's on your plate? How do you focus on achieving your goals when you have so many people you need to oversee? That is one of the biggest challenges to being a productive leader. It's hard to stay focused on being productive while I want to keep other people in the loop, move things forward, but also still be in relationship and not feel like I'm constantly letting everybody down.

In this article, I'm going to give you three tips for becoming a productive leader.

1. Have a mission to pursue.

The first step to becoming productive leaders is having a clear mission to pursue. What I mean...

#25 The Clarity Sessions Podcast - Tips For Creating New Content

One of the questions that I get often from my coaching students, from people in my Amplify Method coaching program, and even at live conferences is, "Brian, how do I get new ideas for content? How do I know what to post on social media? How do I get my new ideas?"

And my response is: answer the public.

Find out what questions people are already asking, and then answer them as part of your content process. So what I want to share three different ways to answer the public or to provide answers to the questions that people are asking.

The strategy is to find out what questions people are already asking about your industry and your niche, and answer those questions. Your answers become the content.

1. Join Facebook groups in your niche and ask questions.

The first place to find these questions is a private Facebook group. Join a private Facebook group or start a private Facebook group in your niche. There are many examples of online Facebook groups where there's a really dynamic...

#24 The Clarity Sessions Podcast – Obstacles To Customer Clarity

Clarifying your audience is such an important step that too many people miss when it comes to creating their business.  I want to share with you about why it's important for you to clarify your audience and to specifically focus on that one target avatar you will serve with your products and services.

There are a few obstacles that we face when it comes to clarifying our audience. I'm going to walk you through those three obstacles that many of my coaching clients and participants in my courses face before we start to work together. If we do not clarify our customers or know exactly who we serve, then we don't know what to offer our audience or how to help them. This leads to zero sales. You might have a great idea for an online course, membership site, speech, or a book, but if you don't know who it's for, you likely won't have anyone to buy it.

So let's talk about the three obstacles that you may be facing:

1. You are thinking too broad.

So this happens often. I'm talking to...

#23 The Clarity Sessions Podcast - Take On A Strong Point Of View

Is it hard for you to take on a strong point of view?

I want to challenge you to plant a flag in the ground and say, "This is what I believe...come with me," or "I don't believe in that. I stand against that."

It's time to take a strong point of view.

A few of my friends have made posts related to this idea: Stu McLaren and Jen Allwood.  For some reason, I want to be safe. I want everybody to like me. But what I've learned is that means compromising my voice. That means not standing up for what I believe in and not standing against what I don't agree with.

Let's jump into some examples. If you are in the home decorating niche, what's your strong point of view? Maybe your strong point of view is you don't need to go buy new things and you can shop at your house with things that you already have. Some more examples are being anti buying, pro-recycling and reusing. Maybe you have a strong point of view about schooling. You are someone of faith, so you believe in faith-based...

#22 The Clarity Sessions Podcast -- Morning Affirmations

Morning affirmations can be a powerful start to your day, so I'm going to walk you through my morning affirmation process.

If you're unfamiliar with affirmations, what you do is you are deciding on a destination for your life and you are affirming that destination. You have to have a goal to get to your destination, and an affirmation is reminding you of the destination: "Yes, this is where I want to go."

So as you start a new year, a new quarter, or a new season in your life, I highly recommend that you implement my morning affirmation process so that you can remind yourself on a regular basis why you want to achieve these goals and what the goals are in the first place.

Here's the truth...it's really easy to forget about your goals. At the beginning of the year you might say, "This is the year for me to finally get fit. This is the year for me to finally improve my friendships or spend extra time with my kids." Maybe this is the year to finally get out of debt or go on a vacation....

#21 The Clarity Sessions Podcast -- Money Mindset

Money mindset is a topic that is not spoken about frequently in my world of faith-based online entrepreneurs. Christians who have a message to share in their businesses don't love talking about this topic.

As I wrote my book, Start With Your People, I realized that money is one of those taboo topics that is so important for us to process. We need to have the right money mindset because money affects our most important relationships. Money is a topic that exposes our deepest fears and our greatest vulnerabilities. Nothing will shut a conversation down and push people into their defensive corners more quickly than talking about money, but it's important that we address our money mindset. It's affecting our most important relationships. If you think about it, there are actually four relationships that money affects.

1. Marriage

When we enter into a marriage, we both come from different families of origin with different expectations about housing, food, entertainment, vacations. It all...
